There is not a lot to see
Hundreds of years of barbarians have stripped these monuments of most distinctive features. I realize that they are important for Georgians, but thanks to the Soviets in those before them there are only traces of murals left, and a few crypts. The winetasting visit was boring, wine being standard at best and the attendant inattentive . Finally, the sound system on the bus was such that it was difficult to understand the guide; he was informative when speaking without a microphone, however with it one largely heard a buzz.

Enjoyable half day tour
Well organised and well timed tour with a good English speaking guide. Only suggestion would be to spend 10 minutes longer at Mtskheta and 10 minutes less at the church with the nunnery.

Mostly in Russian
Two issues: The tour guide mostly speaks Russian, and the tour participants are mostly Russians. The lecture is informative, but the switching between languages is exhausting. We stayed at the Courtyard hotel, but were instructed to go to the office of the tour operator near the river to assemble at the meeting point, moor which we paid a taxi fare. One on the bus, the bus stopped in front of our hotel to collect other participants. Big disappointment! Communication is a challenge to say the least.
